U9 RINK BOARDS

Rink divider boards create a smaller playing surface designed for U9 development. They help players get more puck touches, stay engaged, and build skills in an age‑appropriate environment.

Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches must follow proper set up and take down processes:
  • All coaches on the ice must wear CSA‑approved helmets.
  • Enough coaches must be present to complete setup safely.
  • Arena staff are not required to assist with setup or removal. This is the responsibility of Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches.
  • All teams must treat arena staff respectfully and follow facility expectations
What happens if procedures are not followed:
  • Hockey Calgary or Southwest Hockey may issue warnings or suspensions to the Head Coach if a team repeatedly ignores the required procedures.
  • Safety issues — such as not wearing helmets, unsafe setup, or disrespect toward arena staff — can result in warnings or suspensions.
  • If rink boards or the ice surface are damaged due to improper handling, the team may be billed for repair or replacement costs.

U9 Rink Board Training Sessions
